How do I find the best place to get dental work done?
Are you seeking a new provider to assist with preventive services or other more complex procedures? There are many options, and it can be intimidating trying to pick the right provider to meet your unique needs.
If you’re struggling to find a suitable dentist, it might help to take a few minutes to identify your main priorities. For instance, are you seeking someone who is considered in-network with your dental insurance? Do you require specific services that must be offered? Answering these kinds of questions can help you identify someone who checks off the necessary boxes.
How can I find a dentist who identifies as female?
Many patients experience anxiety or other issues and prefer a gentler touch when it comes to caring for your smile, which in many cases involves finding a female dentist. Thankfully, it’s not usually difficult to find providers who identify as women. This may be partly because an estimated 1/3 of all working dentist in the U.S., and nearly half of current students, consider themselves to be females.
At our office in Alpharetta, Dr. Valeria Labastida (Dr. V) enjoys getting to know you to help you feel at ease throughout your visit. We also offer nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas) to help even the most anxious patients feel calm and relaxed.
What’s the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?
Many experts consider dental implants the ideal way to replace missing teeth because of their unique placement in the jawbone. However, unlike dentures and bridges, this involves oral surgery that requires advanced training and technology. As a result, this procedure is often performed by a specialist, such as a prosthodontist, periodontist, or oral surgeon.
Fortunately, our team has extensive experience and uses state-of-the-art equipment to place and restore dental implants in the office, so you don’t have to seek an outside provider.
What do you do if you can’t afford dental services?
Dental insurance can be an effective way to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for everything from routine exams and cleanings to more complex treatments. Our office is in-network with many major PPO dental insurance companies, and are also happy to assist with claims and paperwork from out-of-network plans to help you maximize any applicable benefits.
However, we also understand that not all patients carry a policy, and don’t want your financial situation to prevent you from receiving top-quality care. We also offer an in-office dental wellness plan that includes standard services and additional discounts for a flat annual fee. You might also benefit from a flexible payment package through CareCredit, which allows you to divide your total invoice into more manageable installments over a designated period.
What level of education is required to become a dentist?
Are you curious what makes a dentist qualified to practice on patients? All providers must meet specific criteria, and our team in Alpharetta is no exception. For instance, first, potential dentists usually earn an appropriate bachelor’s degree and then must achieve a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from one of 70+ schools accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). Then, they can choose to focus on one or more of the twelve specialties the ADA recognizes.
At our office, Dr. V earned her DDS at the NYU College of Dentistry before completing a general residency at Woodhull Hospital. Meanwhile, Dr. Kakadia graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and has since completed 1,000+ hours of continuing education to offer the most contemporary treatments.
